"Adobe's multi-billion dollar takeover" honestly, these days its a common thing, you make it sound like a lot, when in fact it was only a couple of bn.

I was actually thinking yesterday to myself, as I am ever increasingly turning to free products like FF, I wonder will all of the 'other' companies group up like Adobe and Macromedia have to combat MS?? You know eBay/PayPal/Skype, Yahoo/Flickr, Google/etc... All of them team up with thier services to biff one almighty, alternative punch in the jaw of MS and maybe get a K.O.?

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
