It's about time. We can't have (overseas) companies that think that laws are optional as far as they see fit.

Microsoft has plenty of legal resources and budget. They knew what they were getting into when they started this. Either play by the rules or don't play at all. Plain and simple.

One thing the EU/EC needs to ask itself: is the daily fine high enough to compensate for profits made by not complying?

Sure, some US senators and all will be complaining, again, but that's to be expected. I wonder what kind of reasoning they'll dream up this time.
