Story: MP: British Library must lead the charge on DRM

No, nothing should lead DRM. Just shut it down. It's blindingly simple to bypass DRM in whatever form so why waste (tax) money and time on it?

Why do record companies demand a single vendor DRM solution? For our benefit? To better competition? Because of customer demand? To lower prices? To improve on consumer choice and functionality?

Will DRM secure our important data? Improve national security? Ban unwanted information leaking? Stop spam?

Will DRM solve environmental problems? Stop all wars? Lower taxes? Make our teeth white?

Nothing of the sort. It'll only complicate our lives more, deminish our choices and possibilities and take yet another bite out our budgets.

To who would you give the keys to your car, pay for that and even pay more once you want to drive in your own car (provided you drive on approved roads with approved fuel only)?
