I have been searching for information about the $100 laptop since November 2005. I am the CEO of an NGO in Ghana, 'The SASS Children's Foundation' (SCF). I am also the Development Queen Mother for two towns and one village in the Northern, Middle and Southern Regions of Ghana. SCF sends donated equipment including reconditioned computers to schools and hospitals in Ghana and is in the process of building a school for 800 children aged 3-17yrs and an orphanage. Presently we find homes and educational opportunities for orphans, young people, and women. We also help young people to be apprenticed in various trades after which they are encouraged and supported to create their own businesses. We help women to create their own micro-businesses as a way of stopping the rise of 'street children'. SCF is made up and supported by ordinary poor people passionate about the development of our fellow human beings. We say God bless whoever thought up the $100 Laptop. It is ideal for SCF and the people we serve and are supporting Africa. If anyone out there would like to donate laptops to us we would be very grateful. We have waited a long time for this resource and for someone out there to develop the deep love for humanity required to think beyond the dollar or the pound. Mr. Gates indeed maybe correct, but the millions of people, especially children who cannot even afford a pencil and who are fighting to get an education and who are so very far behind the Western world, for them this laptop will be the first step towards ICT literacy and is a gift from God
