Story: E-Books: Getting there, slowly
As an aspiring author, one key feature will be the ability to market one's work effectively. People may decry traditional publishers as exploitative, and only wanting to deal with established authors, but they do know how to get product to market, which is what selling a book is all about. Sit back and wait for hordes of authors to scream about the creative process being all that matters! Everyone knows about the success of individual music artists, albeit very few and far between, who have escaped the clutches of i-tunes etc. to create product demand themselves, but with most novels it is hard to offer samples in the same way you can a song. Sure a lot of books carry brief blurbs on the auhtor's next novel, but that means they have already published and someone has their book in hand. Sorry, no solutions, just an observation, but I am sure this will come to pass.
