Story: German Linux migration not a taxing decision
Germany is leading the way forward for Governments, Public Sector and all types of Business around the world in their migration to Open Source.
The use of Open Source Software can change peoples impressions of computers and the software that runs on them for the better. Novell and the SuSE team have worked wonders into their releases of Linux and the other projects that they have been working on.
I believe that it won't be long before a lot more organisations around the world move to Open Source. I base this on what has been reported about how Microsoft are proceeding with updates, legal cases, and security, and people are starting to realise that Microsoft are not neccassarily the understanding software developer and solutions provider that has always been perceived. Microsoft seem to be making more harsh decisions that break software or functionality without prior knowledge to their customers and are generally making it difficult for people by locking you into their technology.
One of the best things about Open Source is that it is not conducted behind closed doors, like propriety software vendors. As the source code is also open to anyone to read, help develop, or document, generally Open Source is more documented and written better than propriety software.
Well done Germany!
