Interesting. I suppose the initial buy-in was to obtain specific interest and the information that would flow from that.
All the while growing their .cn operations...socially.
The technology is of little concern here -- Google is good at that. What they needed was a yardstick to measure the US/China median strategy of most affect and speed. Which has been obtained, though somewhat bluntly, in the last few quarters.
In that way, the Baidu buy-in was a good way to hedge or excel their much needed .cn expansion.
In this case it appears acceleration was the result. The unified thought in this is backed by the fact that only jitters were felt in their stock price.
Bye-bye Baidu.
