Same old, same old, locked into a proprietary format. Some progress. People who don't learn from the past are bound to repeat the same (costly) mistakes.

Lesson of today: if you want to invest in the future then invest in Open Standards with no strings attached whatsoever (other then to keep the Open Standard common and pure). Everyone must be able to use a Open Standard with equal rights. No exceptions.

The long term choice is simple. Would you rather see ever improving quality or ever increasing quantity? Because greed won't allow for a middle ground.
