The OSBC certainly *was* about self-interest.
Speakers were chosen not on merit, but on how much they coughed up in fees (starting at £6,000).
The organisation running it has nothing to do with Open Source.
The website is hosted on Windows and IIS.
Just another bunch of greedy opportunists trying to make a quick buck by jumping on the bandwagon. No commitment whatsoever, or even understanding of, what they were meant to be running a conference about.

If these were the most impressive ideas that came out of the day, then we certainly didn't miss anything!
