Story: Why India said no to the $100 laptop
Can't help feeling this is a bit of a vitriolic attack on Mr Negroponte who at the end of the day is trying to help people – is ZDNet into personal attacks now?? Does it make you feel big and clever???
Ok, you could accuse the whole project of being some kind of self-promotion exercise but there a lot of easier things Negroponte could have chosen to do than trying to create this laptop. As some of the researchers involved have said, even if it is a failure and only helps a handful of children or young people, it is still bringing attention to the digital divide and getting the debate going.
This is not a very balanced piece and not the kind of thing we expect from ZDNet. Opinion pieces are obviously supposed to be opinionated, but is attacking someone for pushing a project with essentially good intentions, even if you don’t agree with the execution, a fair response? Come on ZDNet surely there are more deserving targets of your bile out there?
