A very wise decision. Anyway that's my personal opinion. Linux is a very stable operation system.
It also has proved it's capability in the film industry (Titanic) and the space industry.
What I would like to know is: Which distribution is going to be used in the aircraft?

Its the applications and device drivers that run on windows that cement its dominance. How many people would fork out hundreds of pounds for Vista if Linux ran all the software and kit they wanted to use.
