Smartphones won't kill PC for a very simple reason : they ARE PC, aka Information Processing Units that are owned by a single person.
"smartphone" is just a bad word for "palmtop" computer.

Thus "palmtop" computers WILL kill "Laptop" computers, not by destroying Keyboards&Wide Screen but by connecting to them WHEN some are available.

In the same way, "set top" computers WILL kill "Desktop" computers with the evolution of wide TV screen, always on, low power capabilities.

In 5 years, people will move to a two tier system, palmtop and set top computers and adapt to IO along the day.
