Story: IT industry: Data retention mess needs fixing

All the best intentions for these complex systems and requirements will not get us anywhere if people cannot easily understand and impliment them as little cost in time or equipment no matter what stick they are threatened with. I do hope this call to consolidate and simplify gets somewhere other and meetings and recomendations that no body does anything with.

Too much of any business's IT is ignorant of what the requirements are so do nothing about them, and if they did try well they wouldn't be given the resources to carry the activities out.
