iPhone not for me

I like when multiple gadgets can be combined into one but this ipod phone merger just doesn't cut it for me.

The biggest let down is the lack of 3G support.

No doubt Apple fans and iPod sheep will grab this phone in droves and then buy again when a 3G model comes out 12months later.

I have to say I'd rather have Desktop App features combined with my phone than audio/video.

Even after 2.5years the XDA exec still is the top phone and will remain so until the new edition comes out later this year. With 4GB memory cards available for it you can watch video and listen to audio (in more formats than the iPhone). You can browse the web at 3G speeds, VPN the office or home, Video call, Download emails and open attachements whether they be video, photo, excel, word, power point or PDF. You can also get games but I usually leave that to my PSP.

Basically if I'm looking to upgrade the iPhone offers me nothing extra at a much higher price.

Put simply, what is the compelling reason to pay ~$200 extra for an Eee with Windows XP? A Windows Eee won't come with any useful applications and you'll have to buy anti-virus software to boot. The truth about low cost computing is that nobody really cares whether the machine is running Windows or Linux as long as its cheap, its easy to use and it works.
