Of course, Open Source offers one overwhelming advantage. That is the ability to run on hardware which does not meet the needs of Vista, or even struggles with XP.
Not only a saving in procurement costs, allowing schools to spend elsewhere on essential services, but also good environmentally.
Open source should be encouraged and even leveraged into schools.
