Open source communism

ZDNet UK is not claiming that open source equals communism – we will leave that kind of clumsy comparison to Darl McBride and Bill Gates. However there is a delicious irony in the UK's allegedly right-wing Conservative Party allying itself with a software development process firmly rooted in socialist principals. Whether the New Tories are simply appropriating open source values, in the same way they have with the environment, remains to be seen. However the fact that the potential next UK Chancellor is name-checking Linux and Mozilla has to be a good thing.
