Meltdown for sure

I'm quite surprised how many IT professionals (at the places where I provide consulting services) express outright loathing of Microsoft even though they purchase and provide inhouse support for that company's products. "Hate" is the word most often used next to "Microsoft". Meltdown is occuring now and is irreparable. Despite that, many shops feel shackled to MS, not just because of existing investment but also because they need to be compatible with their clients/cohorts/competitors. While MS may have already lost the hearts and minds of many (most?) IT professionals, MS will surely continue to reap profits from those same professionals. At least until enough governments insist on standardising on ODF to reach critical mass, forcing MS to open up to open source, or die. Interesting times...
