Thanks for that information on HSBC. It seems that some of the battle lines between Open source and proprietary are blurring – at least for end-users who in the main are not concerned by the ethical stance of either camp – they just want the best and most economically technology available.
This development is being fuelled by the increasing interest in virtualisation where multiple instances of Linux and Windows can run side by side on the same server.
Microsoft and Novell clearly recognise the benefit of a pragmatic approach but unfortunately it's not an equal relationship and Microsoft is always going to put its interests first.
