How many "unforced" sales?

You're right. 40 million is probably very close to the number of PCs sold with Windows Vista Home Edition factory-installed.

Want a new PC without Windows? You can't (and they'll look at you when you ask as if you're a software pirate). At least you won't get a price reduction. This is "sales coupling", and in some countries it is illegal.
