OEM vs. shrink-wrap

"David Weeks, Windows client marketing manager, said: "It's going extremely well. It's proving to be the fastest uptake of an operating system ever.""

It would be interesting to see the proportion of Vista shrink-wrap sales with OEM installs on new hardware. Nobody either sane or clueful would spend the £500 for Vista Ultimate.

The only notable organisation that's upgrading to Vista that I know of is Becta, the UK government's quango on ICT in schools. This is despite them publicly stating recently that there is no compelling reason for schools to 'upgrade'/'downgrade' to Vista. Don't worry, that's we we call 'joined up government' these days.
