Story: Inside Safari 3.0 for Windows (beta)

Tech Review, anyone?

Yes, most folks at this point know Apple has wanted to translate the stranglehold they have over their own (fairly-limited) market since the beginning, despite Jobs' ongoing PR attempts. And journalism is supposed to be fairly impartial, even in this day and age. So why not subject Safari 3.0 for Windows to some scrutiny, instead of just stepping into line and SELLING the download?

Here's a prediction.

Resentful Apple users who 'have to use a PC at work' and MS-haters will download the beta in droves, and perhaps 80% of those folks who post about Safari will love it to death. Using a Mac is no excuse, either. Let's have someone at ZDNet talk about this, and maybe more people will think about downloading Safari beta for other than a curiosity. Let's hope that the browser isn't loaded with spyware!

So is ZDNet a sales channel or a journalistic one?

Why do so many (virtually all) software packages think that they are so important that they have to be started automatically every time the computer boots? What is the largest number of "speed access", "update check", "camera download" and whatever other background programs you have ever seen running? Of those, how many did you really need?
