Red Hat was involved in both projects...

Interestingly - Intel and OLPC have been cooperating on PCs for the developing world for months - despite Negroponte's comments - but haven't been very public about it.

I attended Red Hat's user summit earlier this year when Red Hat revealed that it was launching a Global desktop product aimed at Intel hardware for developing countries such as the Classmate. They also admitted that 80 percent of the code used on the Global desktop was derived from the OLPC project - which Red Hat created the operating system for.
