Story: Linux felon forced to install Windows
The real story behind this
This is mainly for those who think this guy should be written off just because he's a felon. You need to remember that he wasn't convicted for doing actual harm. It's not like he broke into a DVD rental store and stole movies. Regardless of the context, all he actually did was mirror bits from one hard drive to another. It is nothing more than hundreds of thousands of others do every day. He was singled out and was made an example of by an industry known for its own illegal practices, like the whole Sony root kit fiasco. For Scott's roll in this first-time offense, he has already suffered more mental anguish than most of you can possibly imagine. How many of you have actually talked to him? He's just a normal guy trying to recover from a mistake the best he can, without much support from anyone else including friends through this whole process. What would you do if it was one of your friends? Because it easily could have been. It's not really his fault news websites love to jump all over the Windows/Linux politics that we all know and enjoy. Give the guy a break.
