Birmingham City Council correction

"However, Birmingham City Council axed its Linux rollout last year, because it found that its Microsoft-based platform was cheaper."

This statement requires a correction. BCC were too incompetent to manage a deploy Open Source software such as Linux. Incumbent suppliers also made it "worth their while" to stick with the existing technology mix.

Its the applications and device drivers that run on windows that cement its dominance. How many people would fork out hundreds of pounds for Vista if Linux ran all the software and kit they wanted to use.
