Racketeering, plain and simple...

Microsoft long ago ceased to be a technology-driven company.

They aren't even marketing driven these days.

The game is now just racketeering.

Buying influence, paying people to shut up, vote-rigging, evading fines, protection rackets, forcing people to buy products they don't want...

Mafiasoft?

Time for some new thinking...

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
