you need to experience as a woman in IT

As a woman in this industry for a few years, I am just so annoyed by those geeky, judging, no-humor, back stabbing male co-workers. Most of them are soo closed minded. When you accomplished something big, they just think you didn't do it and talked to you like you copied the whole thing from somewhere. If you made a mistake, they just enlarged the whole thing and made you feel very bad about yourself. Many times, when something breaks, they just think its you without investigating who did it or maybe something else has caused it.

The other thing I can't stand is they look horrible themselves and have no sense of fashion, yet they criticize people who dress up. I went to a software conference and one the instructors openly criticized the other instructor just becuz he dressed in suits. How rude is that? I think it is polite to look neat for some occasions and going to work. Your co-workers are not your mother or your family, we don't want to look at your ugly face, hair, and disgusting clothing everyday.

I don't think anyone can work in such a prejudiced environment over time other than those geeky people themselves. That's the reasons why no one want to hang out with geeky people in school. Not just their unpleasant looks, but their shallow minds as well. They have built up a very unpleasant world. Even I think I am good at what I am doing, I really want to change my career path.
