Story: The realities of mobile security
Valid Business Mobile Security Concerns
Hello,
This is Eric Everson, Founder of MyMobiSafe.com. I enjoyed your article as I feel that it highlights a critical vulnerability that essentially all businesses face. The use of mobile devices has become a staple of the speed of business. Employees at all levels of the organization are now connected between a myriad of devices, both business and employee owned.
Cell phones are a gaping hole of security vulnerability that most businesses are at tremendous risk to. As a business leader, if your employees use their cell phone to discuss, text, or file share business related material you are placing the business at some level of risk. As mobile spyware is readily available for every major cell phone platform in the workplace, business sensitive information is getting into the wrong hands at a frightening rate. The greatest information technology risks today are mobile handsets; if a business does not have a handset level mobile security solution in place across the company there is a vulnerability.
As the owner of MyMobiSafe.com, we are seeing more and more companies turning to mobile security providers like ours to mandate a mobile security solution for all employee cell phones. We embrace businesses looking to beef-up mobile security by providing discount incentives for group plans. The reality is that the network level has respectable security; the problem is that every cell phone used in business is a represents a hole that can sink the greatest security ship.
Again, I enjoyed the article; we are seeing many companies making mobile security a real infrastructure priority. Wireless computers are but a piece of the security equation as handset level security can make a business just as vulnerable.
