No one ever got fired for..not taking a risk

The old adage – no one ever got fired for buying [insert name of tech monolith here] should also rank as one of the main blockers to tech development.

The fear of making a mistake on a small but potentially innovative vendor is a palpable one in an industry whose members get little or no recognition when things go right – but plenty of attention when they go wrong.

Why risk your budget and reputation on an untried vendor when buying IBM or Microsoft is a much safer option. It’s no wonder then that the industry is controlled by a handful of behemoths keen to lock customers in by whispering into their ear that "everything will be alright – you can trust us - we're big and plodding with too many staff".
