Who paid for the study? The odds are in favour of XP

As a rule of thumb, one can get researchers to say just about anything if one pays them enough. Hence, Gartner, a MS-advocate for some years now, can hardly be called unbiased on this matter.

Further, enough people are having trouble with Vista that Lenovo has started offering downgrades -- installing XP over Vista on brand new laptops! Given that XP has a lot of years support left and Vista has more security issues built into it than any other MS OS, I will stick with XP and recommend the same to our clients. Further, based on its age, XP is likely to have more patched holes than Vista. So the odds of Windows security are in favour of XP.
