Story: Homebrew: Tech project wins £20,000 car
Well congrats on winning the car...
But I really can't see why.
All this guy seems to have done is built a wooden rack, spent some time on eBay buying junk making a mess runnning cables and that is about it. The rack contains a 30 quid router, some cheap switches, a UPS a commercial amp and a home brew server. All of his work was "when I install 6 network ports in the dining room" and everything he spoke of is "when" not "I have"... There does not seem to be any actual home automation and the rack seems to do little but operate an audio amp and provide shared broadband / file serving duties to the house.
While I haven't looked over the other entrants, I personally think this is a pretty poor show. Sorry chap!
P.S. Tie wraps are really handy for tidying cables!
