Yahoo's Identity crisis!

"Yahoo's been weighed down by trying to do too many things and not being very good at any of them, [and] not having the commitment to excel at any of them."

This is their problem exactly; people have in the past pointed out how yahoo launches competing products; take Yahoo360, which competes with Yahoo Groups, which competes with Geocities (anybody remember that?).

They've also done a poor job of Y! Search Marketing, which is supposed to be the competitor to Google's Adwords/Adsense; whilst you can find google ads almost everywhere on the internet, Yahoo ads are hard to come by, even those in yahoo search are at times irrelevant.

Their attitude seems to be 'have a presence first, then worry about quality later', a perfect example is; Yahoo Pay, a reaction to Google Checkout.
