A great deal for Yahoo shareholders!

Recently Yahoo shares fell by 30%, on this announcement, they rose by 60%, so if you'd bought shares yesterday, this would be a great payday indeed.

As for Microsoft, i dont know how much this would help them in terms of competing with Google; although they aknowledge that they're after Yahoo's userbase, Yahoo already has more unique visitors than Google and yet Google trumps them when it comes to advertising market share, its the technology silly!

Steve Balmer mentions that they'd be able to save $1billion a year in costs by combining the two operations, seems positive, but MSN.com and Yahoo.com serve similar content, will they have to shut one of them down? in so doing won't they loose visitors?
