Story: BT responds to 'unethical' contract criticism
Outrageous
I work with many small businesses and understand that the documentation for phone lines is often dealt with by office admins. Business owners understand their rental is paid for direct debit and consequently pay little attention to what is effectively low-level admin. However, when the companies decide to review their communcations instrastructure and decide to move to an IP based approach or even just an alternative provider, I think many are going to be furious at the idea a contract has been "upgraded" and they are locked in for an additional 12 months.
Can you imagine what would happen if they did this to users personal mobile contracts... "we've added free texts between 7pm-8pm on sundays and renewed your contract for an additional 12 months. Please call if you do not wish to participate in this exciting opportunity".
When was the last time you read your phone bill and all the associated documentation?
