A question and a suggestion

First, I have a question. When your new computer "crashed completely" on the second day, what exactly happened? Was it perhaps a problem on booting?

Second, if you want some insight into why the manufacturers are using (and pushing) Vista, and you have a fair amount of time and patience, take a look at Rupert Goodwins' excellent blog post(s) about the Microsoft email that was recently unsealed in the U.S., and then follow the link there to the actual emails. It gives a fascinating look at the interaction between Microsoft and various major companies.
