IT Workers

How about employing IT workers over the age of 40. If you loose you job for what ever reason and have passed the age of 40 you are on the bench. When I went to my out placement interview at 52 I was told I would never get another job in IT and I should re-train as a driving instructor. How true he was about getting another IT job. People should not discard older IT people on the scrap heap. Having worked in IT for 30 years I picked up new technology and skills a number of times over, just cos I passed 50 does not mean I could not do it again. Personally I am glad that neither of my two daughters show any sign of getting involved with IT other than as users. I think the youth of today are switched on if they are avoiding IT there is no career after 40-50 and its not like you get paid footballers wages before hand.
