Messy overlaps everywhere!

Say AOL merges with Yahoo, then what? AOL currently get their search results from Google, do they drop that partnership? Google owns a stake in AOL, they wouldn't be too happy with that.

Newscorp joins Microsoft and successfully takeover Yahoo, apparently Newscorp will bring Myspace into the fold, thereby enabling the combined partnership to provide a rounded internet experience, is that user lock-in? Not so fast; Microsoft owns a stake in Facebook, does it make sense to have Myspace, a competitor, as part of the partnership?

In my opinion Microsoft doesn't need Newscorp, they should stick to their original strategy and go it alone.
