Story: Ballmer: Microsoft may keep XP if users demand it

Yes Steve, they want it!

How do you describe such a statement without calling Steve Ballmer a liar?
Steve knows very well it was never Microsoft's intention to offer users a choice, as soon as Vista came out, they hastily removed XP machines from sale; suddenly overnight you couldn't find an XP computer unless you were willing to pay a bit extra on some websites (since when does the old cost more than the new?).

There's been a bunch of save-XP websites set up, a lot of enterprise users have simply refused to adopt Vista. All of that somehow escaped Steve's attention, maybe he's being distracted by the Yahoo takeover bid.

So if you upgrade to XP SP3 you can't uninstall Internet Explorer, I'm quite sure I'm having a Deja-vu feeling about MS preventing people from uninstalling Internet Explorer in other Windows products.
