hypocrisy

every single argument that was raised against the web also exists in real life and every other medium of communication. for example people "faking secrets", this happens in conversation and existed way before social networking websites.

i think the web does make people wiser, for example irrelevant or poorly written blog posts get glossed over just like any other rude behaviour is not tolerated in real life. many more parallels can be drawn to real life.

the responsibility for the abuse of a very powerful and useful tool does not rest on anyone but the individuals who use them. it is like blaming cars for car accidents, and banks for bank robbers to say the web encourages or creates anti-social behaviour.

i think ultimately the web makes people more accountable for their ideas and that can never be a negative thing.
