Story: Lawyers, analysts: ICANN vote will cause URL chaos
This was predictable
I really don't know what ICANN were thinking, or why they felt this was needed, have we run out of possible .com names? I certainly haven't heard of any company/organisation suggesting having their own TLD.
The only people that can benefit from this are cyber-sqwatters, it certainly won't make day to day surfing any easier if you have to guess whether its a .com, .shop, .london or whatever else they can dream up.
