Hotmail wipes 100s of emails from my inbox!

I accessed my hotmail inbox yesterday to discover that literally 100s of emails have been wiped off the system. From last week to this weekend, 3 year's worth of emails (close to 1000) have simply vanished from my inbox. You can imagine how horrified and concerned I am. I did not delete them nor was over the storage limit (not even 10% to it). I received no communication so I assume this was not a planned activity so it must either system or security.
Like many, I take microsoft's claims seriously, and when they tell us they offer a secure service I take that to include providing safeguards against mass loss of data. I have emailed microsoft on this yesterday but so far with no response. I'm writing to raise attention to this and to warn any with hotmail emails that this could happen to you.
If anyone has had this same awful experience I would appreciate hearing from you, specially if microsoft replied and/or did recover the missing data.
Also, if anyone knows of anything else I can do to try and recover my data, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for reading and this is a great site!
