Story: Apple's lack of taste mars Macworld keynote
RE: Apple's lack of taste mars Macworld keynote
Not sure what can be done about this. Firstly, Steve Jobs hates celebrations. Of any kind. Stuff that has happened in the past has happened. It is not new. It is not exciting. It is not worth celebrating.
Secondly this is probably a stealth presentation. Stuff you have just glibly tossed away actually had some significant impact and will do. When Microsoft release upgrades to Office people sit up and listen. I think that the iWork updates provide a significant word processor, spreadsheet and presentation package for a measly 69 quid, which I think is significantly less than the upgrade price on Office. I don't think Microsoft provides anything like the package of software that iLife represents and if you are buying a new machine these are included, free. If not they'll only set you back another 69 quid. These are reasonable prices for what you get.
The removal of DRM is significant but not for the reasons you might think. It is significant in that the record companies have finally stopped trying to shaft iTunes and are actually letting it have what it has given to others for something over a year now, but were withholding from Apple to basically shaft them. It didn't work.
But you were really complaining about the lack of wow for the end of an era. As I say, That was the show that was, It's over, let it go.
