Blog Comment Actually that's not the problem since the "original" system image is a volume license of SP1 with the SP2 service pack slip-streamed into it. None of our systems use AMD chips so the registry entry should not be the culprit.

SP3 Under Suspicion Again

Blog Comment If you ask a Microsoft rep, he will tell you the reason. The fault lies in the user. I had the same problem trying to install SP2 to an older version. I finally just gave up and bought a copy with SP2 included.

Blog Comment Contrary to so many of the comments on ZDNet and elsewhere, I have installed XP SP3 successfully on a number of computers including ones with AMD Athlon processors and heavily skinned computers, Flyakite 3.5 (A Mac lookalike) for instance.
