Outrage at Gates' knighthood
Talkback Bill Gates is every bit as deserving of knighthood as Tim Berners-Lee, Harold Evans, and other "noble" people who came before Bill. Thus Bill Gates is no less deserving of knighthood. I came to this conclusion just recently, having assisted a...

Unix users up in arms at Bill Gates' knighthood
Talkback Well, at the very least it's a devaluation of the knighthood. It's a bit like giving a Nobelprize for peace to G.W. Bush. It just takes away the shine. I wouldn't want to be knighted anymore (not that it was about to happen :-).

Outrage at Gates' knighthood
Talkback Paul mentioned one of the things I have to point out. Was Bill being knighted for services to humanity thanks to his charity work none of us would have a problem. The problem we have is that he's being knighted for abusing his monopoly.
