It's Never Easy, Even When You Have A Mac
Blog My MacBook reminded me this morning that it had been a few days since I last sync'd my PDA, so I thought I will just connect the two up, click the "SYNC" button and be on my way in a few minutes. This stuff is suppose to make my life easier.

Yankee Group Slams 'Linux Extremists'
Talkback Calling someone at 1am in the morning is not cool. But suppose you isolate your shop down to being able to use Linux or Internet compatible applications and remove most of your need for Windows. I agree.

Show Blog Day 2: IBM Rational Software Developer Conference 2008
Blog IBM really did bring out all the news on day one of this show, so this morning a little space cleared for the partners to try and get a little attention. Then there was Instantiations Inc, who made a few waves (well, ripples I suppose) about its...

Maybe Vista Really Is Getting Better
Blog I am still primarily using Linux, and only run Windows during my morning and evening commute, but I will at least continue to run Vista rather than XP for a while, and see how it goes.jw 8/8/2008 But either way I suppose this indicates that Vista...

Computer Blunders Of The Technologically Inept
Articles It was fine, then the next morning, it looked like this. Trying to buy something online, I suppose. No wonder it didn't work. Note the card hasn't even been activated yet. From 1994 to 2002, Rod Shelley worked as a PC technician at a major computer...

Rupert Goodwins' Diary
Blog In the morning. I suppose BT has done almost no publicity for this -- well, have you heard anything about it on the radio or telly? At it, the DTI announced the Millennium Bug And Electronic Commerce Bill, to come in ASAP (and you can bet Mandelson...

Guy Kewney's Weekend Diary
News A delightful summery morning stroll, marred only by the malfunctioning of my cellphone. He wants to have Morning Tea, the bastard. I suppose it shows the power of sympathy with a victim of Microsoft hype.

Rupert Goodwins' Diary
Blog They pile up in his inbox, ruining his plans for the morning. I had no idea there were so many - I suppose the universities spew forth computer science graduates who cast hungrily about for the one good idea that’ll get them through the classic...

IDF - Day Zero
Blog Talking of painful: it's Monday morning and 2:30am. Has to be the noodles, I suppose. Sunday is winding down. The usual suspects are gently digesting the Squid Beard and crispy fried bullfrog from dinner (actually, the bullfrog was off), we...

DNA Database Difficulties
Blog This morning the BBC is reporting on the issue of building a nationwide database to store double-helix data on all of us. Well, the government hardly has a great record of being able to look after our data I suppose.

Vista Vs. XP: The Final Retreat
Blog What precipitated the retreat, this time, was that I turned my laptop on this morning, after having done a normal "suspend" last night, and after several minutes of black screen and endless disk activity, Vista said "Improper shutdown detected...

News The Japanese very politely let us have the morning to visit a war cemetery. Faced with the choice of spending the day at Comdex looking at the launch of Fin-Fin, I spend the morning in a travel agent, trying to get a flight today instead of tomorrow.

Vista To XP - A Forced Retreat
Blog This morning when I turned the system on, it said "unable to start Windows".and went into the Vista startup recovery procedure. I suppose what I will do is wait for Vista SP1 to come out, and then reload the Vista disk from scratch, install SP1...

Living With The Eee For A Week
Blog On Saturday morning I had a look at the thing and, oh dear, the screen was cracked. This worked for me, I suppose, because - although I'm a reasonably fast typist, at around 65wpm - I don't touch-type.
