IPTV takes off on planes with GSM to follow

Talkback Christ, what's all this 'watching TV on planes' now, don't flyers have better things to do? Don't people have sex anymore, I'd much rather have four women at once than four channels.

RFID keeps Virgin planes in the air

Talkback Maybe Gareth Lewis can tell Wal-Mart where he got the gun that can take a snapshot inventory of his planes. Wal-Mart is having trouble reading just a pallet load of case goods, and has to resort to reading cases one at a time.

Does BA re-boot its planes?

Blog Sorry - I like BA, they fly nice safe planes and are all nice people. Grrr… is it just me? Or have you people also been sat at 34,000 feet enjoying your ‘Worcester Sauce’ flavour pretzel bites and G&Ts while tuning into the new BA video on-demand...

RFID keeps Virgin planes in the air

Talkback Stephen, Unfortunately hyped up stories like this is what scares people into thinking of RFID as "Spychips" that will control their lives. The application related to life vests seems reasonable provided that the tags can be read without dismantling...

Wi-Fi: Coming soon on board US planes?

Talkback Absolutely agree with Emmanuel. Airlines should not even be considering this! I am also puzzled that the author of the article does not seem to appreciate the significant differences between cellular telephone technology and wi-fi access points.

Does BA re-boot its planes?

Blog Comment At least it's only the entertainment system they have to re-boot. When my local train operator C2C splashed out on a complete fleet of shiny new (purple) trains they had months of "teething problems".

Does BA re-boot its planes?

RFID keeps Virgin planes in the air

Talkback Chris, I think Gareth Lewis has been misquoted. One must assume Virgin is using passive chips, long range active tags surely wouldn't be compatible with the operating environment, and anyway cost too much.

Does BA re-boot its planes?

Blog Comment Ah yes - the longest reboot in history, god knows what OS they must be using. On a recent 10 hour flight I took, the four attempts to reboot took the best part of 4 hours by which point most people had given up - thank god for iPods and Sudoku.

Does BA re-boot its planes?

Blog Comment What next? If this sort of thing keeps up people may be forced to actually talk to each other on flights. What an awaful situation that would be. Fly Business Class, you get the Bose headphones to use on the flights with AA and others.

'No mobiles' to replace 'no smoking' signs on planes

Talkback What next? No s*x signs replacing no mobiles signs? If a high proportion of the world's people enjoy something, it is sure to get banned. Even with "No Mobiles" signs, it's a guarantee that many businessmen, especially those in economy class, will...
