Munich Picks Its Linux Distro
Talkback We switched from Redhat to Debian and we are very satisfied with it. Excellent!

Open Source Renders Patching A Problem
Talkback Do facilities like Debian's Apt-Get and Redhat's commercial equivalent count as patch systems? On Debian I can configure my system to automatically pull down patches on a regular interval. So I can see what's going on I choose to confirm the...

Linux As A Technology Cost-saving Strategy
Talkback One good example is Debian GNU/Linux; it's harder to set up, but is in fact more flexible than RedHat, SuSE, or the like - Slackware is the most powerful & flexible, but it's far harder. Debian (with a hard 'e') is maintained & bugfixes are readily...

Unix Users Up In Arms At Bill Gates' Knighthood
Talkback Would you accept benchmarks funded and run by RedHat engineers in their labs? NASA run redhat on theirs, why? My debian post was hardly an excuse, it is a fact. Smithy I think you are merely a troll. You are the one who sounds like the fanatic...

Currently The Best Linux Distro
Member Review I've used RedHat, Mandrake, Debian, Libranet, & Xandros and they don't come close. This thing rocks! Yeah, Xandros is easy but not as stable and fast as SuSE 9.1, besides SuSE can work as both a desktop and a server.

Build A WAP Gateway On Linux: Basic Steps For Setting Up A WAP Gateway
White Papers Kannel, being developed on Linux systems (RedHat and Debian), it can be smoothly ported to other UNIX-like operating systems. There are various commercial WAP gateways available on the markets that are quite expensive.

Red Hat Recommends Windows For Consumers
Talkback We should boycott RedHat everywhere, because they have just stopped support on free distro and don't want other (eg Mandrake,Suse, debian .will take their place on desktop :-||

Red Hat Recommends Windows For Consumers
Talkback Frankly I believe that RedHat should call it quits and get out of the Market Place. RedHat Linux is barely a decent Linux when it is all boiled down. All of the Good Desktop Distros (except for Mandrake 9.x and SUSE ) are in fact Debian Linux Based...

Sun's Plans...and How They Could Go Wrong
Talkback When have you ever heard of a company basing its corporate strategy on persuading its customers of an assertion as obviously false as "Linux equals Redhat"? You don't have to be a Llinux partisan to acknowledge that Novell/SuSe and Mandrake are...

Sun Patches Image Handling Flaw
News A handful of other software companies use the program too, but many, including Redhat, SuSE, Gentoo and Debian, issued patches much sooner, according to an advisory released Friday by the French Security Incident Response Team.

Yankee Group Slams 'Linux Extremists'
Talkback Let Microsoft setup a system and let Redhat (& Suse & Mandrake & Debian, etc) setup their system (server and/or desktop), then let the experts maintain the systems. As James Cornell said previously, the EULA for Windows prevents the publishing of...

Red Hat Recommends Windows For Consumers
Talkback I think RedHat has no right to speak on behalf of all of Linux and say it's not suitable for the home user. I use both Mandrake and Debian as my home/office desktop and find it much more productive and entertaining!

Row Over Report Praising Windows Patching
Talkback Mac do this too - choose the most expensive Linux distro (RedHat Enterprise Server) do price comparisons against it. Do there figures take into account widely used distributions like Debian or Gentoo?

Circular Logic And Insults
Talkback Linux has only really taken off due to Redhat who saw an opportunity to make money. I'm sure RH would agree with you, but I doubt if you would get the same response from Suse, Mandriva, Debian etc. > So you have socialist views and therefore I can...

Ultimate Extra! Ultimate Extra! Read All About... What?
Blog Comment If those democracy-hating commie Open Sourse people can do it, several times over, in fact: RedHat, Ubuntu, Debian, Dawin, mac osX, etc, then what is taking the richest most powerful software company in the world so long to even get half-right?
