Techie Comedy Draws Flak And Some Fans

Talkback I watched it with my (non-techie) wife and both of us were laughing - albeit at different things and we've now added it to our sky planner! Absolutely loved it! All of our IT department watched it, either online or on the TV - and there were plenty...

RSS For Non-Techie Librarians

White Papers The point of this paper is not to describe how RSS feeds work or the technology behind them, but to describe a practical tool for the "non-techie librarian" (NTL) to easily set up an aggregator and start receiving feeds.

2010: The Year Of The Techie

News Being labelled a techie used to be an impediment to advancement, but by 2010 technical skills will be more highly prized than ever, according to a study by management consultants Deloitte. According to the report, "Eye to the Future — How...

2010: The Year Of The Techie

Talkback Even if we were to start churning out techies, it doesn't always mean you get a good techie in the end. a techie is created. The physical side of the techie industry is closer to a skilled trade without the same attention to skills development that...

2010: The Year Of The Techie

Talkback What planet does this man live on, the car I drive will never make me a better techie. "helped in part by more intelligent cars" Most REAL techies I know don't drive smart cars, they like old vintage cars.

Techie Comedy Draws Flak And Some Fans

Talkback I enjoyed it. Not the funniest comedy I've ever seen but definitely worth watching. Having come up through IT I laughed to see the stereotypes played so well (or maybe they're not sterotypes and BOFH has returned).

Techie Comedy Draws Flak And Some Fans

Talkback I think it has potential to grow into a good comedy programme, I particulary liked the way they spotted the new manager was not IT savy - she did not react to an original ZX81

Techie Comedy Draws Flak And Some Fans

Talkback I laughed out loud many times. I agree it's not too cerebral, but I suspect this is what offends some people. To me it's a bit like Viz for TV and it works a treat. I've been working in technology for 18 years, specifically IT for 10 of those and...

2010: The Year Of The Techie

Talkback This article goes completely against common sense. Most people have difficulty walking and chewing gum at the same time. Having someone drive at breakneck speeds and try to dictate an e-mail will only end up in disaster.

Techie Comedy Draws Flak And Some Fans

Talkback Funny in places - but those places were small as well as far & few between. I'll watch it for a couple more weeks, willing it to get better, though I have a feeling it won't.

The Open Source Techie Who Means Business

Talkback 'I think it also gets harder to improve the GPL for Linux when Linux has got much "bigger". The GPL isn't just for Linux.

The Open Source Techie Who Means Business

Talkback I cannot see why Linus would like to tie his hands with a draft- And suppose the DRM part become part of the law (in the USA) or nastily put into the hardware. Also could Linus having accepted GPL 3 make any amendments to it in the future.

2010: The Year Of The Techie

Talkback This work is nothing new. Professor Richard Skase predicted very similar things in his book "Britain in 2010" published in 2000. Not exactly rocket science, this.

Techie Comedy Draws Flak And Some Fans

Talkback There were a few laughs for me in there, but i lost interest very quickly due to the really, really OTT canned laughter. Made it sound like it was trying to be a lot funnier than it should be, and IMO really killed what could be a great, funny show.
