USB Ports
Talkback Notwithstanding that the Aspire One is small, light, convenient and attractive, I do hope that the USB ports are sturdy enough to last the life of the computer; and that they have not been sacrificed in the efforts to keep weight down.

And While We're Talking About USB...
Talkback I have devices on my desk that need all of these, so that's four USB cables I have to keep in a drawer. Add in the fact that, for most phone manufacturers, none of these is good enough, so I also need to keep USB cables for Nokia and Sony Ericsson...

Currys £16.99 USB Cable Rip-off.
Blog Comment The ones I have most of are mini-USB cables from phones, MP3s and gadgets, though there's now three sizes of plug there.it is absolutely true that USB cables are normally not included with printers, but I seem to have two of those.

Lifebook S6510 - The Saga Continues
Blog First, it has four USB ports instead of two, and that makes a big difference to me because I have a LOT of USB peripherals. The S2110 had three USB ports, compared to two on the S6210, but the port replicator blocked one of them, for reasons that I...

Any Recommendations For Road-tested Laptops?
Blog Comment I carry round 4 USB devices now (a 3G card, a wireless mouse, a memory stick and the USB charger for my Blackberry) - having two ports is just plain dumb. I could invest in a USB splitter port but a) it is something else to forget and b) on my...

Tech Talk - XP To Vista, The Problem Details
Blog It showed up for me when I plugged my Pentax digital camera into a different USB port than it had previously been in. USB 2 Controller hanging. At irregular intervals, but certainly once or twice a day, any and all USB 2 devices would simply stop...

Talkback You have the base unit, it has a USB cable (or PS/2) and it has a power cable to run the recharger. In the end, I gave up, I prefer the single USB cable of my good old Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0.

Time Crisis: Administrators Called In
Talkback I purchased a printer and USB lead & the printer was faulty. I was barred from the shop & they kept the printer & USB lead. It caused some sort of power surge to my USB card and damaged it. I have now got a new PC, from Tiny ( I was promised by the...

Ubuntu On The Acer Aspire One - Provisos
Blog I have inadvertently found the clunkiest workaround on the planet -- I have a USB stick SD adaptor (mine is from integral but I think they're ten a penny), and as the USB bus is working fine, we are all happy in a sticky-out, clunky sort of way.

I Made A Mistake And Got One
Member Review I chose the Sanyo because of its spec -- broadband modem, Bluetooth, IRDA, SD card slot, can work a USB printer, large screen -- and I could understand the Orange offer. The phone comes with a CD-ROM for setting up a USB connection but you have to...

Taking Sweeties From Strangers - Update
Blog I searched for promotional USB drive companies. As well as the cornets, the nice ice babe with the Intel van was also doling out promotional USB keys. So yours truly looked at the document, made a copy, and thought "Don't like that partition, I'll...

A Minor Stumble With Ubuntu
Blog Comment Although they will certainly never get any better ADSL than they have right now, which is the lowest speed (and lowest price) available from Swisscom, you're almost certainly right about it being a USB 1.1 device, and about the CPU load.

An Impressive Week With Ubuntu
Blog So now I have it running, with the port replicator connected, the laptop keyboard and touchpad work, a USB mouse works, and a PS/2 keyboard works. Of course, the display, keyboard and mouse worked; the ethernet worked, and was correctly configured...

Letting In Linux
Talkback But unfortunately I had been too clever, I had bought a USB floppy (none of my other machines have floppy drives these days, so the thought of having a drive I could use on any machine appealed). It uses an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard (on board 7.1...

David's Alpine Photo Fail
Blog It did have a USB port (woohoo) but I didn't have a USB-to-mini-USB lead to hand at the time, for connecting my little Ixus camera. The PC has USB ports, an SD slot and everything. Oh, and the PC was a Pentium III with no USB ports, never mind...
