Sony VAIO PCG-TR1MP review
Reviews Considering it includes an integrated DVD/CD-RW drive, the VAIO TR1MP weighs a reasonable 1.45kg. The VAIO TR1MP sports the most impressive notebook design we've seen from Sony in a while. The system's 27cm wide by 18.8cm deep by 3.47-3.58cm high...

Great for taking notes and projector presentations
Member Review I purchased my TR1MP in August 2003 and have found it very useful and exceptionally easy to carry around. Keyboard OK for notes, screen definition superb. Only problem was the camera stopped working after 2 days, but this was quickly fixed by my...

Outstanding display
Member Review I own a TR1 which fullfills my demands on performance, battery life and design. Handling and the clear, bright display makes it an outstanding Product.

Best screen out there!

Terrible after-sales support...
Member Review I, like many others, suffered from the camera breaking. It went for repair and came back with a new motherboard (! but a curious new problem where noise came through the speakers whenever data was going through the PCMCIA slot.

I disagree, this laptop HAS replaced all others and IS my primary, here's why...
Member Review This laptop is the best computer I have ever used because of size, function and style. I've ditched all the others. Your reviewer found little faults in the smallness of the keyboard and mouse, which is true.

Nearly there -- just needs to admit the camera is a problem
Member Review The best-kept secret in the world -- has Sony fired its marketing department?

EVERYONE I've shown this to wants one
Member Review As always though, more memory is required (especially as memory is shared with graphics). And with so much multimedia software, the hard drive is not large enough to collect all your MP3/ATRAC3 audio and edit video, although its all 'possible...

Excellent ultra-portable

Nothing else is this light and effective
Member Review Yes, my camera broke too in the first week. Can't be bothered to send it back as it has become indispensible. Upgrade the memory to at least 512MB to run effeciently. As a professional photographer I can say that no other laptop screen comes close...

EXCELLENT! More RAM and HDD though
Member Review For camera issues see:
http://www.whatlaptop.co.uk/forum/topic.asp? TOPIC_ID=3052 Also, 512MB of RAM and a 40GB HDD would improve this significantly.

Defective laptop
Member Review Great initially, but the camera has stopped working twice. I returned it once, and eventually, despite no reply from Sony support about a refund, a Sony Tech Support guy told me that the camera problem is a known fault with this model.

Excellent computer. Some camera issues
Member Review I've had a TR1MP for a while and the laptop is, well, wow! The only trouble is that with the web camera, it has broken twice. I sent it off to Sony, it came back to me working and a day later broke again!

Perfect travel laptop -- but get ready to squint
Member Review Great little laptop. Powerful enough to do almost anything. But the text IS small, and I often find myself squinting and wondering if I should have gotten a larger machine.

The screen is excellent
Member Review I bought the machine 4 months ago. I have a problem with a loose battery, it shakes around in its bay, despite it being locked in properly -- a small niggle, but not what I expected at this price. I still have to send it to Sony for repair, not...

Not cheap, but a wicked little box if you have the money
Member Review I'm absolutely delighted with this little machine. It's a shame that the 1GHz / 49GB / 24X burner version isn't available in the UK, but this machine rocks nonetheless. The display is unbelievable, the battery life is fantastic, and it comes...

FAAAANTASTIC... amazing with Linux
Member Review This is too fantastic, with Linux, a dream (except for the minor aggravation with the weird screen resolution). TO FIX THE CAMERA: Turn it off, unplug AC, take out battery. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it all together again -- IT WORKS :D
