VESA prompts monitor dumping in bargain basement frenzy
News Monitor manufacturers are desperately dumping 14-inch stock in the UK to clear massive inventories of products that in two months are not going to be VESA standard. VESA, which stands for the Video Electronics Standards Association has issued a new...

Linux on the HP 2133 Mini-Note, Part 1
Blog Comment Try booting the installer with the kernel parameter 'vesa'. That should force it to use the 'vesa' driver both during install and for the installed system. Then you could build an openchrome snapshot, or just stick with vesa.

HP 2133 Mini-Note: Lessons Learned
Blog Comment I don't recall that I was ever able to get the display resolution exactly right when using the vesa driver on openSuSE, though. It might interest you to know that openSuSE 11.1 uses the same X server version as Ubuntu 8.10, which means that you can...

Weekend Success - Ubuntu 8.10 on the HP 2133 Mini-Note
Blog The Ubuntu WIki indicates that you should be able to install 8.10 on the Mini-Note by forcing it to use the vesa graphic driver, but nothing I tried, and I mean absolutely nothing, would work. A few cycles of that convinced me that absolutely none...

Dream Linux 3.5 - Results and Summary
Blog It installed smoothly, got the display resolution exactly right on both the LiveCD and after installation, and although it was using the vesa driver rather than the openchrome driver, everything was working ok.

HP t5730w Thin Client review
Reviews The device has industry-standard VESA mounting interfaces for Flat Displays (FDs), and many users will probably buy the optional quick-release VESA mounting bracket and fix the t5730w to the back of their flat-screen monitor.

Weekend Success - Ubuntu 8.10 on the HP 2133 Mini-Note
Blog Comment The advice that is all over the Internet (i.e.force the vesa driver) worked for me when I first got the HP mininote 2133 and again after the main board was replaced the first time. When I got it back this past week, after the main board was...

DOSBox
Downloads It has partial protected mode emulation, a subset of VESA 1.2 functionality (800x600x8) via S3 Trio emulation, and 'internal modem' support via the SDL_net framework. This is a rather trivial port of DOSBox to MacOS X.

VectorLinux 6.0 Released
Blog On the 2133 it defaulted to the vesa display driver at 1024x768 resolution, but I was able to copy over the openchrome driver from Mandriva 2009.0, and got it working at 1280x768. VectorLinux made their 6.0 final release over the weekend.

Linux on the HP 2133 Mini-Note, Part 1
Blog Comment On Mandriva, you should be able to ctrl-alt-F1 to get to a console, then you can log in as root and change to the 'vesa' driver with drakx11. The issue with graphics is that the latest stable release of openchrome doesn't actually work properly...

Linux on the HP 2133 Mini-Note, Part 1
Blog Comment The display is obviously the biggest problem, and even the ones which work aren't really "getting it right" in the sense of using the VIA UniChrome driver; openSuSE uses the FrameBuffer (fbdev) driver, and MEPIS uses the VESA driver.

Samsung SyncMaster 173P review
Reviews Samsung also includes a VESA bracket for wall-mounting -- an extra that's usually sold separately. Some LCDs have limited viewing angles, a fact that makes the picture hard to see from the sides or from above or below.
